I continue to think about my gratitude to those who helped guide me through life. This list feels never-ending and never complete, but it’s a worthy subject to spend time with.
Respecting my elders has always been easy with so many excellent examples.
Debts and Lessons
My Maternal Grandfather: For teaching me that I never have to stop having fun. For his excitement at new technology. For telling me the danger of his temper so that I could work on my own. For staying up late into the night teaching me strategy and problem solving through video games.
My Maternal Grandmother: For her strength and her love. Her strength of character is unparalleled, her love unmatched. For making me a thousand pancakes and a thousand cookies. For sending them in the mail when I was far away.
My Paternal Grandfather: For teaching me the value of a story. For showing me the best possible example of a self-taught and self-disciplined man. For giving me all the respect of an adult when I was only a child.
My Paternal Grandmother: For taking care of me selflessly, allowing me to see my father as often as possible. For her quiet strength and intelligence in all things. For holding me to her high standard and holding my hand as I tried to reach it.
My Step Father’s Mother: For loving me from the first time I met her. For cursing and being one hundred percent herself.
My Step Mother’s Father: For the laughs. For showing me that you can be fun and respected at the same time.
